Description: The Next Generation Motorsports Stage IV Intake was created for the need for more volume at higher RPM's to support the engines needs for making more horsepower. The problem with the stock plenum is the fact that it is way too small to support the amount of volume the 2.7L V6 needs to make an increase in power especially when other mods are introduced into the picture.
In order to increase horsepower, you need to increase air flow intake and fuel intake. Adding an exhaust, you make more power because of the increase in airflow now that you have removed the restriction in the exhaust system allowing the engine to move more air through it. The result is the same when you add a Cold Air Intake. Now that you have more airflow coming into the intake side and leaving the exhaust side, the bottle neck in the system is the intake manifold. This is where the Stage IV comes into play.
NGM has created and intake with larger intake runners and a plenum big enough to support the amount of volume the engine needs to make power. This combination works very well with the addition of cams too. With the stock intake manifold, the 2.7L usually makes peak power around 6000-6200 RPM and then falls off like a rock. With the addition of the Stage IV intake, the engine will still make peak power around the same RPM range, but will continue to carry the power all the way to redline. There is a definite seat of the pants feel as to the way the car feels all the way through the power band with the installation of the Stage IV Intake. Our dyno tests have shown a 24whp increase in power from 6000RPM to 6800 RPM.
